Chapter 16 -- At the End of a Prayer

*sigh* I am in the same position as I was when I translated chapter 7 ^^;; I dun have chap 15....
oh dilemma... tragedy... you know... Anyway, this one is pretty much action filled ^^ I missed
the whole chunk with Marron helping Zen find his parents and this is after all that (I assume)
so keep that in mind ^^ This chapter is so sad *sob sob* and the next one makes you sort of
angry and sad and aieee!!!! *had too much sugar* bai~~~

p.s. The magic paper token things are called "majufu" in Japanese, the character meaning "fuda"
is in the word and I couln't translate it very well. If you've seen Sailor Moon, then the paper
things with kanji that Sailor Mars/Rei has is what they are.... ^^;;

Sinbad : I'll check mate whatever it takes!
Jeanne : Do you know what will happen if you check mate?
Sinbad : I do
Jeanne : Zen kun might die, you know?
Sinbad : I know that
Jeanne monologue : He's serious about it....
Jeanne : I will protect Zen kun. I'll take on your fight and bear my ground. Come on!
Noin : I seem to be in the way. I will retreat.
[Noin disappears]
[Huge gusts of wind/power blow around Sinbad and Jeanne]
[Sinbad's rosary glows and he draws out a lot of black pins at once]
[Jeanne runs as the pins come flying]
[Jeanne takes her ribbon and splits them all]
Sinbad : Damn!
[Sinbad draws out another black pin]
[Jeanne sticks her face in fron of his and Sinbad is taken by surprise]
[Jeanne takes her hand fan and thrusts her fan up, throwing Sinbad away]

(outside the window, Noin watches)
Noin : Strong.... yet beautiful
[A dragon crawls out of Noin's collar]
Silk : Noin-sama, don't we need to give Sinbad a hand?
Noin : Silk. Yes, Sinbad isn't actually weak. It's just what you'd call a love weakness.
(small print) He's a little on the soft side J
(note: there really is a smiley sign there)
[Jeanne and Sinbad are fighting]
Silk : Shouldn't you be doing something than joking?
[Noin grabs Silk's throat]
Noin : Are you trying to tell *me* what to do? I don't like the sound of that (small print) What
should I do with you?
Silk : [stammers] Excuse my behaviour, I was out of line. Please forgive me.
Noin : I guess so
[lets go of Silk]
[fumbles for something in his cape/clothes]
Noin : [thinks] Magic paper tokens
[Throws them onto the painting, it catches on fire]
Noin : Now the evil spirit is under my command, like a doll. Awaken.
[Zen's eyes open wide]

[Jeanne and Sinbad are still fighting]
Jeanne : I think it's high time you gave up!!
[Jeanne and Sinbad are running]
Jeanne : Zen kun's life is his! No one can touch it!
[Sinbad's dagger and Jeanne's ribbon clash]
Jeanne : If you want the evil spirit, I'll give it to you. But wait. Not yet!
[Their weapons clashed]
Finn : Jeanne! Watch out behind you!
Jeanne : What?
[Zen blasts an attack at her]
[Jeanne lands safely]
Jeanne : [sees Zen] Zen kun!
(Zen's expression is blank, his eyes empty)
Noin : [orders] Attack
[Zen blasts attacks at Jeanne]
Jeanne : Oh no! The evil spirit has awoken!
Noin : Not only that, but my magic has brought out his power.
[orders] Attack
[Zen runs to attack, then his heart fails and he falls]
Jeanne : [thinks] He's getting a fit!
Jeanne : Zen kun! No! Don't move!
[Noin orders : Attack]
[Zen stands and attacks Jeanne, Jeanne screams]
[Zen appears behind Jeanne and attacks]
[Jeanne is thrown against the wall and falls]
Sinbad : Jea--- [holds himself]
[Sinbad draws out a black pin]
Jeanne : Wait..! [on the floor] No...Sinbad..... please... [tries to get up]
Sinbad : Don't get up. You'll get attacked again. Sorry, but I have no time to wait.
Jeanne monologue : Zen kun has got a fit! If we check mate now, there's no knowing what will
hapen to him! [Jeanne drops in pain] .....I can't get any strength in me.... I want to move but
I can't.... It's so irritating.... but I'm helpless.... It's just the same as before...
(flashback scene of when Marron and Miyako were drowning in the water) I can't protect the
ones I love. I can't forgive my own weakness.... [Jeanne starts to cry] .... Why am I always
like this? Why is Marron always weak? I want to be strong... I want to be strong...
Voice : Marron....
Jeanne monologue : It's you again....
Voice : Use your holy power. Then you will be able to stand up. You want to help that boy don't
you? If you use your power, then you will be able to. That power is called the "power of
rebirth".....
Jeanne monologue : I still feel cheated... In the end, I have to use someone else's power.
Marron can't be Jeanne.... but now I will do what I can and need to do. To acknowledge something
is one step closer to becoming strong. To be able to look at yourself in the mirror means you
need courage.

[Sinbad throws the pin]
Zen : ..ug...
[Jeanne runs and holds out her hand, the pin sticks into her hand]
Jeanne : I won't let you!
[Sinbad, Noin and Zen all stare at Jeanne]
[Zen's memories flow back to him]
(flash back) Zen kun.... Zen kun.... Are you all right? [Flashback of Marron smiling]
Zen : Marron..... You're... Marron aren't you?
Jeanne : [smiles] Zen kun!! You're back to normal again!
[Sinbad sees his timing and throws the pin. It strikes the painting]
[Jeanne has crouched down to Zen and stares]
Sinbad : Check mate!
[Zen tunrs transparent and screams]
Jeanne : Zen kun! Zen kun!
Sinbad : I will not let you check mate from now on, Jeanne.
[Sinbad jumps out the window]

Jeanne : Stay calm Zen kun. I'll go call the nurse!
Zen kun : It's all right
Jeanne : No!
[Zen grabs her wrist and with his other hand, clutching his chest]
Zen : I want you to listen to me. Don't go.
Jeanne : But...
[Zen pulls her head to his]
[Zen kisses Jeanne]
Zen : I love you
[Zen hugs Jeanne]
Zen : Marron was my wind. You were beautiful. You swept my heart away. To tell you the truth,
I've loved you since I first met you. I didn't know anything about you so I didn't know what to
think about how sad you looked from behind or the reasons for your tears. But I did realise that
you and I both felt the same. We both felt the same loneliness... Tell me one thing. Did you
pity me? Is that why you became close to me?....
Jeanne : No. I respected you.
Jeanne monologue : I can't even dial one phone number straight away. But you strained your own
body to go and see them. I was surprised. The frightened little me had always wondered how to
swim through the vast open ocean, but you didn't want a ship. You wanted wings. I thought you
were amazing.
Jeanne : I wanted to be a part of your strength. That was all.....
Zen : Wow! You have the strength of a hundred people!
[Zen starts a coughing fit]
Jeanne : Zen kun!
[Zen stops, but is still gasping]
Zen : Marron, don't cry.... I'll never give up so smile.... Marron... smile....
[Zen is lying down on the floor]
[Jeanne is crying and she takes her ribbon out]
Zen monologue : Your very existence was the power. I want to say those words you said to me. I
want to say them back to you..
[Marron is smiling, still teary]
Zen : Marron..... it's a good name....
[Zen's hand falls lifeless and Marron starts to cry]
[Zen glows and he lies still]

(It is raining in the city)
[Miyako rings the doorbells]
Miyako : Chiaki---- Aren't you home? Marron too... where could they both be?
[Chiaki is having a shower fully clothed]
Chiaki monologue : It was too late for that boy.... His heart had been absorbed too much... He
could see an angel. That's how inhuman he had become. I wanted to let him die, at least, as a
human...
Access : You should have told her the truth....
Chiaki : If I had said it, she would have wanted to do it herself... she wouldn't have listened..
I didn't want to soil her hands. I don't want her to have painful feelings any more.
Access : Then are you going to keep quiet about, you know.....?
Chiaki : Yeah....
Access : You know, there are some times when keeping quiet would hurt even more...

(It is raining outside a shop)
[A woman picks up the phone]
Woman : Hello, Takazuchiya Florist.
Caller : .....
Woman : Hello?
Caller : ... Please go to the hospital straight away
[Marron is standing in a phone booth]
Woman : Excuse me.... who is this?
Caller : I'm sorry.. It would have been better if I had forced you to see him that day....
[The phone is hung up]
[Marron's eyes look empty. She is crying]
Noin : Bravo Sinbad. There is no other perfect scenario than this. Now all we need is for
"Shikaidou Hijiri" to appear.

Marron monologue : Chiaki..... why did you check mate? I don't know. Whether I should be angry
at you or to forgive you.
[Marron faints and Shikaidou catches her]
Shikaidou : It is easy to break a rose that is already hurt. I shall warm you with my hands.
(flashback) Zen : Marron, you were my wind.
Text : Outside is rain. Wind velocity is 0.
